As part of the digital transformation of public administration, the government has launched two key projects: the Public Services Directory (GSD) portal, which provides centralized access to administrative services, and the Ngao complex, designed to protect the information resources of government agencies and improve the efficiency of electronic interaction.
This was announced by the Permanent Secretary of the Presidential Administration for Civil Service and Good Governance, Juma Mkomi, at the final stage of the celebration of the Week of Civil Service in Dodoma. He noted that the launch of these systems is a significant step towards digitalization and optimization of the provision of services to citizens.
According to Mkomi, these initiatives demonstrate the authorities' commitment to modernizing the public sector through information and communication technologies. «We are deeply grateful to President Samia Suluh Hassan for his support of digital initiatives and leadership in ensuring compatibility between government platforms, which improves the quality of public services», the official stressed.
The GSD single digital platform combines services previously provided by various ministries, departments, agencies and municipal structures. This allows the public to receive the necessary information and services without visiting many disparate government websites. «Citizens no longer have to switch between different government portals to find the right services now they can use a single window», he said. Currently, the platform has integrated the proposals of 554 government organizations, and the total number of administrative procedures available through it is 9,777. According to him, the system provides information about the necessary documents, the order of registration, deadlines, fees and payment options, which increases the openness and convenience of interaction with the authorities.
At the same time, the Ngao information security system was introduced, aimed at improving the security of the digital infrastructure of government authorities, including electronic document management (e-Office) and office mail services. Mkomi explained that the development of this solution was a response to the increasing use of digital tools in the public sector and the growing risks of computer attacks. «The goal is to provide secure access to data and protect government systems from Internet threats that can paralyze the provision of administrative services», he said.
The Ngao system, using authentication tools and digital security technologies, creates an additional security barrier, protecting confidential government data and strengthening public confidence in electronic public services. Since its launch in 2025, it has reached more than 700 government organizations and service centers across the country. The platform has already helped reduce digital threats, strengthen information security, and reduce the number of phishing emails and online scams that government agencies and customers have suffered from.
The authorities plan to continue financing the development of digital infrastructure and cyber defense tools, ensuring efficient, reliable and customer-oriented provision of public services. The implementation of both platforms is part of the government's comprehensive strategy to accelerate digital transformation and increase the accessibility, effectiveness and openness of public services.
