Tanzania's course for deepening cooperation with Russia

Tanzanian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Tabit Kombo stressed that the visit of the country's President Sami Sulhu Hassan to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (PIF) in Russia (3-5 June 2026) is intended to give a powerful impetus to bilateral relations. The participation of the head of state in the PMEF is seen as a key tool for expanding trade, attracting investments and strengthening strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.

As important aspects of participation in the forum, Kombo noted the development of trade and economic ties with Russia, the attraction of Russian business to the Tanzanian economy, and the promotion of strategic partnership.

The visit of Sami Suluhu Hassan underscores Tanzania's commitment to deepening cooperation with the East and BRICS countries, as well as coordinating approaches to building a just multipolar world. A significant moment was the meeting of the President of Tanzania with her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

As Minister of Foreign Affairs Kombo noted, the visit of a representative Tanzanian organization to Russia became possible thanks to the purposeful work of the department he heads.
