Residents of Korongwe District in Nkasi district were encouraged to actively participate in the construction of a new police station, an initiative designed to optimize access to law enforcement functions and strengthen public order in the area.
This call was made by the Regional Police Chief (RPC) of Rukva, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Shadrak Masija, during a meeting with representatives of district, village and town administrations aimed at discussing the progress of the work.
The construction of the site was initiated at the request of the community, which received approval and financial support from the state. This facility fits into a large-scale government strategy for decentralizing security, which involves bringing police closer to citizens to maintain peace, protect life and property, and promote regional progress.
The Regional Police Chief stressed the need for citizens to participate in the successful completion of the project, inviting them to work with the local government to protect construction resources and assist in the construction of the building until its completion.
Representing the interests of the Korongwe leadership, Council member Khamis Huseni expressed gratitude to the authorities for the decision to build the site, describing it as a significant contribution to the stability of the region. He also assured that community leaders and residents would take over the protection of the materials and provide full cooperation to comply with the work schedule. It is assumed that a functioning police station will increase the efficiency of police work and save people from having to travel long distances to get help.
