The Ministry of Finance has stepped up its efforts to increase transparency and accountability in the public sector by organizing training for members of the Integrity Committee. This training focuses on the implementation of the fourth phase of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan (NACSAP IV) for the period from 2023 to 2030.
Conducted by the Ministry's Department of Administration and Human Resource Management, this training is aimed at equipping committee members with the necessary skills and knowledge to oversee the implementation of the anti-corruption strategy and create a culture of integrity in the institution. NACSAP IV acts as Tanzania's national program aimed at preventing and combating corruption by providing guidance to government agencies and other stakeholders responsible for upholding ethical standards and strengthening governance systems.
At the opening of the training in Arusha, Bashir Taratibu, Acting Commissioner for Public-Private Partnership of the Ministry of Finance and member of the Integrity Committee, stressed that the program is aimed at strengthening institutional capacity in the implementation of the strategy and strengthening anti-corruption measures in the performance of government functions. He stressed that strengthening integrity systems is crucial to improve the quality of services provided, protect public resources, and increase public confidence in government institutions. Taratibu urged the participants to make the most of the learning opportunities, closely follow the presentations and discussions, noting that the knowledge gained would become an important tool for improving work efficiency and compliance with ethical standards. «The goal is to improve our understanding of the strategy's implementation framework, promote integrity, and strengthen measures to prevent and combat corruption within the framework of the ministry's responsibilities», he said.
Representatives of key departments and divisions participated in the training, including the Department of Administration and Human Resources Management, the Department of Public-Private Partnership, the Department of Government Communications, the Department of the Chief Internal Auditor and the Department of Financial Management Systems and ICT Services.
This initiative is part of a broader government effort to strengthen quality governance and institutional accountability through the effective implementation of NACSAP IV. The program is aimed at forming a society that adheres to the principles of honesty and completely rejects corruption.
In the process of reforming the public sector, which Tanzania continues to improve efficiency and transparency, such capacity development programs are considered key tools. They ensure that anti-corruption commitments produce tangible results in all government institutions. The training was conducted in the conference room of the additional Treasury office in Arusha.
