Zanzibar's law enforcement agencies have received state-of-the-art ICT equipment to strengthen their capabilities in combating cybercrime and other high-tech offenses.
Mohammed Khamis Abdullah, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, assured that the Government will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to improve cybersecurity and protect national communication systems. At the ceremony of handing over the equipment at the Zanzibar Police Headquarters, Abdullah noted that technological progress contributes to the emergence of more sophisticated criminal methods, which requires equipping law enforcement officers with relevant tools. He stressed that strengthening the technical capacity of the police plays a key role in combating cyber threats and protecting citizens in the digital age.
Elly Gugu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Union Government, stressed that the new equipment optimizes criminal proceedings, especially in cases requiring digital forensics. He noted that the expansion of technical capabilities will speed up judicial procedures and improve methods of combating technological crimes.
Kombo Khamis Kombo, Commissioner of Police of Zanzibar, expressed gratitude for the help, noting that the new technical means will significantly strengthen the potential of the investigative service. According to him, innovative tools will speed up and improve the accuracy of cybersecurity investigations, improving the detection, analysis and prosecution of online crimes.
