The Parents' Union of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi Party (CCM) has announced plans to release a special document aimed at strengthening children's development, emphasizing Tanzanian traditions, customs and ethics. Speaking to reporters in Dodoma on June 4, 2026, regarding preparations for the «Parents' Week», which will culminate on July 4, 2026 in Mwanza, wing Chairman Fadhili Mganya said that the initiative is aimed at solving social problems affecting young people.
Mganya emphasized that parenting is a collective responsibility, not the burden of parents alone, noting that the upcoming national conference will bring together stakeholders to discuss ethics and social welfare issues. «We will bring together stakeholders to discuss issues of child development and social values in order to make recommendations that will help improve the upbringing of children across the country», Mganya said.
Addressing the ongoing political discourse, the parent wing stated that the CCM remains strong and cohesive. Mganya explained that individual statements do not reflect the official position of the party, which has more than 13 million members. He noted that although different opinions are expressed in political forums such as parliamentary debates, this does not mean an internal split.
«One person cannot represent the position of the CCM. Our party has more than 13 million members and has clear procedures for expressing an official position through its national leaders», he stressed. This statement followed a public debate sparked by Mohamed Simai Saeed's remarks during the budget session of the Ministry of Finance.
Mganya reiterated that the official positions of the party are approved exclusively by the National Chairman of the CCM (who is also the President of the United Republic of Tanzania), the Vice-Chairmen from mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, the Secretary General and the Department of Ideology, Advertising and Vocational Training.
This year's Parents' Week celebration will focus on five key themes: education, parenting and ethics, the environment, healthcare, and culture. Events are planned in both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar to encourage public participation in educating a generation raised on patriotism and strong moral values.
